Denim Jeans

2019

12 oz. denim jeans featuring front patch pockets cut in a relaxed tapered fit. Created for a fashion design and production class I took during my senior year at RIT.

These jeans were designed completely from scratch based off of my own measurements. I had never sewn before taking this class, but after numerous pattern iterations and a total of eight fitting drafts, I'm satisfied with how they turned out.

I let my inexperience guide my design process and decision making with this project. Instead of traditional jean pockets, I opted for patch pockets due to their simpler construction technique. I countered this by choosing a contrasting white thread that would force me to take extreme care with my craftsmanship, as any mistakes would be immediately noticeable against the dark denim.
